« Or you can palpably feel the danger in the music, » adds bassit Dion Lunadon, « Like it’s going to fall apart at any moment and the players doing it are so in the moment they don’t give a shit about anything else. They’re just going for it. It’s a gutter kinda vibe; everything about it is icky and evil and dangerous. »

The band are currently working on their 5th album with an eye toward a fall release. Rather than fixate on the minute recording details like they may have done in the past, the group, rounded out by drummer Lia Simone are trusting their instincts and trying to keep things as pure as possible. Music is much more exhilarating when it’s unpredictable even on repeat plays. Simone makes her recording debut with the band here, and it’s obvious that she’s helped pushed the band’s recordings closer to the level of their infamous live shows.Organisateur : Radical Production

Depuis leur formation à Austin en 2004, The Black Angels sont devenus les meilleurs représentants de la version moderne du rock psyché, ou comme le dit le New York Time à leur sujet, « ils jouent du rock psychédéliques comme si les années 60 continuaient d’exister et ce sont les maîtres absolus du genre ». Déjà auteurs de 4 albums, ils ont tourné dans le monde entier et deux des membres du groupe ont cofondés le Levitation Festival (ex Austin Psych Fest) en 2008. Le Festival a depuis bien grandi et s’exporte dans plusieurs pays du monde, dont la France.

Ils seront de retour le 21 avril 2017 avec un nouvel album intitulé Death Song.  cet album se veut en partie contestataire et en partie cathartique en réaction au climat ambiant de division, d’anxiété et de mal-être. Enregistré entre Seatle et Austin, Death Song a été produit par Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) qui offre aux 11 titres un son bâti pour sublimer leur signature sonore (guitares fuzz menaçantes, textes au cordeau) et créer les bases de ce rêve trouble et hallucinatoire.
